Piece of Cake!

I'm unsure if I posted a picture of my brother's girlfriend's "Martini" 19th Birthday cake earlier, but I never was able to put up a picture of the INSIDE of the cake.
This picture comes to you courtesy of her family who attended the birthday party!
Thanks guys! Anything that looks good, tastes that much better!
And I think her face says it all.

50th Birthday

I also had the opportunity to make a 50th birthday cake this weekend for a friend of our family. One number was a chocolate cake and the other was a vanilla cake. The colours were to match the napkins that they had. I hope they had a wonderful time celebrating this monumental birthday of his!

Cupcake Bouquet

This weekend I got the chance to try my hand at a cupcake bouquet!
I was very thankful for some helpful hints that I found online, like placing a gumdrop under the base of the cupcake for support!
Overall I was pretty happy with the way it turned out and I would definately do it again. Everyone loved it and I got my best compliment from my cousin who used to work in a floral shop saying "I thought you were carrying in a real bouquet of flowers!". Thanks for all of your compliments!
The first picture is of the future bride and her cupcakes!

Wedding!

I had my first wedding this weekend, and I think it was a success!
I had to call in some hired help, since I was working this week, and they did amazing.
This was not your traditional wedding cake, but she just wanted some cake to be served later in the night.
Motorcycles are something that they both enjoy so I made 2 more motorcycle cakes for their wedding. These were lemon poppyseed and a carrot cake, both with cream cheese frosting. The other sheet cakes were marble cake, with a vanilla custard filling, covered in buttercream, chocolate ganache and fresh fruit.
I think the chocolate ganache was my favourite part, although the vanilla custard was pretty good too,... good thing we have 10 pounds of it left! - we made a little too much.
Well enjoy this beautiful week! On to cookie class this week and a bridal shower cake for next weekend.

Birthday cakes

Here are the other 2 orders that I had this weekend. I had a birthday cake to make for our trustee travel agent Mike! So of course we made a world with an airplane on it. I had a lot of fun making this cake, including a pilot in the jet! (sorry I forgot to take a picture of this!). And Miss "Cutie Pie Bakery", your chocolate buttercream was a big hit, and I'm also addicted!

The other cake was a bit more difficult, as I needed height but didn't have a good base. It was difficult but we made the best of it and gave the Tim Horton's coffee cup a "spill" look. I think it still would have tasted good, regardless!

Engagement cake

I had 3 orders this weekend! Yea! And one of them was an engagement cake for good friends of ours. Her colours are aubergene and ivory, and she also likes calla lilies, so I got to try my hand at gumpaste lilies. It was fun. I hope they had a wonderful weekend getting to know the family.

Cupcakes

These were two separate orders of cupcakes. I made just a simple chocolate and vanilla cupcake for both orders. The top ones have a chocolate buttercream on the vanilla cupcakes and a vanilla buttercream on the chocolate cupcakes. The bottom ones were made for our family bar-b-q. Corn on the cob, straight out of the "Hello Cupcake" cookbook. They have so many cute and fun ideas! I just had to try making one.

Fall Bridal Shower

I had the opportunity to do another bridal shower.
This one included a sweet cake and some matching cookies.
I love doing the matching cookies and cupcakes!
Enjoy the shots!
